Worship and Music

Mission statement:

"The Worship and Music Committee shall be responsible for providing leadership for and general supervision of congregational worship. The president of the Altar Guild and various coordinators for worship tasks shall relate to the Worship Committee. To carry out this responsibility, the committee shall:

    • Assist the pastor in planning meaningful worship experiences for the congregation.
    • Encourage members of the congregation to develop and maintain the habit of regular worship attendance and participation in the Sacraments.
    • Recruit, train, and/or supervise competent ushers, acolytes, communion assistants, lectors, and other worship assistants. Use coordinators to fulfill these tasks.
    • Develop and update position descriptions for the church organist/pianist and choir director(s), and assist in recruiting choir members.
    • In cooperation with the Altar Guild, arrange for the care of paraments, vestments, banners, and other appointments.
    • In cooperation with the Altar Guild, provide for an adequate supply of expendable items for worship, including communion wine and bread, baptismal napkins, etc.
    • Provide for the making and use of banners and other seasonal decorations.
    • Submit to the Administration Committee, in appropriate form and at the time requested, a budget request for the coming year’s work.
    • Continue to study the worship needs of the congregation and maintain a worship program that meets those needs. Draw input from the congregation as a whole, as well as other committees that have Sunday-related program activities."
