Welcome! We
offer the Sacrament of Holy Communion weekly at Elim Lutheran Church.
We believe that the invitation to Holy Communion comes to us all
directly from Jesus Christ, and as such, anyone wishing to receive
communion is welcome regardless of age, church membership, etc. The
small communion cups hold red wine and white grape juice. The silver
chalice holds red wine. If you choose not to eat and drink, I hope you
will come to the table fora blessing. If you areinterested in church membership or would like a pastoral call, please note so on the "Welcome" insert in the pew pocket then put it in the offering plate. -Thank you for blessing us with your presence this day, and may God bless you in your being here. In Christ's love, Pastor Liz Engel |

Six weeks ago, over 500 invitations for Elim's Centennial celebration were mailed to members and friends of this congregation. To date only 17 have replied. Concerned? Yes! Working with the chosen caterer to assure an affordable price, a contract was signed guaranteeing a minimum of 125 confirmands for the Friday (Oct. 24) dinner to be held here at Elim. Also a 125 minimum was the guarantee for the all celebrants dinner on Saturday (Oct. 25) to be held at the Masonic Temple. Your support is desperately needed if we are to host the evenings as planned. PLEASE return your reservation form ASAP. Also please talk to others known to you who received an invitation and encourage their support of Elim's celebration. The deadline is September 15. —The Centennial Committee Important Note: All members and friends are invited to each dinner and the brunch. Though the emphasis will be on honoring confirmands and celebrants, the invitations are open to all. Stewardship Event Focuses on Joy New Testament Professor Mark Allan Powell is joyful about generosity. The professor's book Giving to God is full of words like cheerful, delight and good, and he is convinced that Christian stewardship leads to a better way of life. Powell will be the keynote speaker at the Northwest Washington Synod's Fall Stewardship Event, Sept. 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynnwood. His presentations will focus on the joys and rewards of generous giving that are promised in holy scripture. Powell's two keynote addresses will be interspersed with small group discussion and devotions. The event is open to all congregants. The $20 fee includes lunch. If three members of a congregation attend, the fourth member is free. For more information or to register, pick up a brochure in the office. Registrations are due at the synod by Sept. 15. First Place 4 Health Coming Soon Elim's new ministry, First Place 4 Health, will begin September 9 and meet each Tuesday from 7 pm to 8:15 pm. First Place 4 Health is a Bible Study and healthy-weight program that emphasizes the various aspects of good health. The name derives from Jesus' command to give God first place in our lives: "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness..." Matthew 6:31. Pastor Liz and Melodie Cummings are the group leaders. Contact either of them for details. |
